Townend Sports Medicine Clinic was founded in 2008 by Gerry Townend who is a native of Carleton Place. After working several years as an Athletic Therapist in pro-sport and as a co-owner of a clinic in Toronto, Gerry moved back to his hometown to work for the Ottawa Senators. A few years later, Gerry felt the need to give back to his community by founding the first Athletic Therapy clinic and providing personalized health care services for both athletes and the active population.
A Certified Athletic Therapist (CAT) is a university educated health care professional who assesses and treats the cause of musculoskeletal injuries and that provides expertise in functional rehabilitation. Reconditioning programs are designed for postural correction, flexibility and total conditioning which can be followed at home or at a gym.
This practice uses an active patient focus treatment process where a high emphasis is placed on educating you about your injury and how to avoid re-occurrence in the future. Our goal is to get you back on your feet and return to sport or active living as quickly and effectively as possible.
